Dr. Flemke began teaching and providing clinical supervision at in the graduate programs of Couple & Family Therapy at Drexel University in 2003 as adjunct faculty, while completing evaluation research for Pennsylvania’s Commission on Crime and Delinquency at the University of Pennsylvania. She joined Drexel University as full-time faculty in 2005. Dr. Kimberly Flemke is a trained Couple and Family therapist, having received her master’s degree in Couple and Family Therapy from MCP Hahnemann University in Philadelphia and her doctorate in Human Development, with a concentration in Couple and Family Therapy, from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA. She is currently a member of the American Family Therapy Academy (AFTA).

Dr. Flemke’s primary research interest is in understanding women’s use of violence and their experience of rage towards their intimate partners, having recently completed a study of incarcerated women’s experiences of rage towards their intimate partners. Other research areas of interest include issues related to past trauma and current violence, along with women’s issues, particularly surrounding sexuality.

Some of Dr. Flemke’s clinical specialties includes sex and couples therapy, treating past trauma and abuse using EMDR, issues related to women’s sexuality, gender-related and LGBTQ issues for both individuals and couples, along with treating women’s rage and violence. She has a wide range of clinical experience, including her work at the Institute for Sex Therapy at Council for Relationships, working as a forensic family therapist within a Philadelphia prison (PICC), treating male and female sex offenders in Roanoke, VA, and being a domestic violence treatment provider for the Bucks County Adult Probation and Parole Department for both women and men arrested for acts of intimate partner violence.
