Professor Alcott currently serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Nursing in the College of Nursing and Health Professions. He earned a BSN from Thomas Jefferson University in 1997 and a Master of Science in Nursing in Leadership and Health Systems Management, as well as a Certificate in Healthcare Informatics, from Drexel University in 2011.
Professor Alcott's primary clinical experience is in critical care, although he has also held clinical nursing positions in emergency care, telemetry, home care, and staff education. Before joining Drexel University, he most recently held the position of Director of Clinical Informatics at Hahnemann University Hospital where he led the organization in leveraging technology to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of clinicians at the bedside by delivering evidence-based research and clinical decision support to the point of care to enhance patient outcomes. He continues to practice as a Clinical Informaticist on a per diem basis.
