Cheryl Portwood, MSN, RN, CNAA is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the College of Nursing and Health Professions. She is a graduate of the University of Kansas School of Nursing and earned her MSN from the University of Pennsylvania with a clinical area of Health Care of Women and a functional area of Administration.

Her clinical background is diverse, including medical-surgical, critical care, and neonatal intensive care at the University of Kansas Medical Center, University Hospital of the University of Michigan and C.S. Mott Children's Hospital of the University of Michigan.

Cheryl comes to the faculty with over 25 years of experience in nursing and executive leadership positions for hospitals in the Delaware Valley. In her role as CNO and Vice President for patient care services, she served in an advisory board capacity to the LaSalle University School of Nursing, the Delaware Valley Hospital Council, the Hospital Association of PA , and Nursing Spectrum. She is a past executive board member of the Southeastern PA Organization of Nurse Leaders. She is a Wharton- Johnson & Johnson Fellow in Management for Nurses.

In addition to her teaching role, Cheryl serves as Coordinator of Quality for Distance Learning Programs in Nursing. In her role as quality coordinator, she monitors courses in the RN/BSN and MSN programs for best practices, student and faculty satisfaction, working with faculty to ensure quality in online courses. She has extensive experience teaching in the virtual environment and mentors faculty on design, development and delivery of online courses.
