He has clinical experience in adult inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, gerontology, child and adult medical settings, and currently maintains a private practice. Paul has served on many Boards related to the arts and health including the American Music Therapy Association (Vice President), American Music Therapy Association Advisory Board for Education and Training, Kardon Institute for Arts Therapy, The College of Physicians of Philadelphia –Executive Board of the Section on Arts - Medicine, and The Asociacion de Musicos Latino Americans. He has served on editorial boards including The Journal of Music Therapy, The International Journal of Arts Medicine, The Arts In Psychotherapy, Music Therapy: The Journal of the American Association for Music Therapy and currently on Music Therapy Perspectives. He recently served as guest co-editor of a special issue of Music Therapy Perspectives: The Role of the Music in the Music Therapy Process. Paul has written many book chapters and articles on the clinical practice of music therapy and music therapy education. He has presented internationally to Creative Arts Therapy and medical audiences. Awards include: Alumnus of Excellence, Shenandoah Conservatory of Music, Service Awards from Pennsylvania Association of Creative Arts Therapy Associations, American Music Therapy Association, National Association for Music Therapy. Paul is married to Stephanie, with whom he performs music, and has 17 year old twins.
