This year, PhillyCHI and Drexel CCI have organized an educational workshop series to introduce beginner practitioners, students, and professionals working in digital who are interested learning about topics in usability, user experience, and information architecture.

The next workshop in the series is on prototyping taught by Matt Thomas.

“Interactive Prototyping: From Paper to Connected Devices” with Matt Thomas
Location: Drexel University, Sky View, MacAlister Hall - 6th Floor
Date: Saturday, August 1, 2015

Workshop Description
Prototyping can sometimes sound like an intimidating piece of the product development process. But it doesn't have to be. In this highly interactive workshop we will:

- Take a brief look at the history of prototyping
- Discuss why prototyping is critical to product development
- Review and discuss the varying "fidelities" of prototypes -- and how to pick the right one for your project
- Get exposure to the variety of prototyping tools available
- Build our own interactive prototypes!

About the Instructor
Matt Thomas is an interaction design pro focused on collaboratively creating products that intersect design, technology, and human experience. For the past 10 years, he's deliberately worn many UX hats to include designer, developer, and researcher. He's currently Interaction Design Manager at award-winning product design firm, Bresslergroup, where he's challenged by complex design problems, develops prototype solutions, and then tests them with humans.

About PhillyCHI
PhillyCHI is the Philadelphia region’s chapter of the ACM SIGCHI, an interdisciplinary academic and professional group interested in Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience, Usability, and other related disciplines. PhillyCHI holds monthly meetings and socials to network and discuss current topics in HCI. Learn more at phillychi.org or follow along on Twitter at @PhillyCHI.

About Drexel CCI
The College of Computing & Informatics (CCI) serves as a central hub for multi-disciplinary computing and informatics activities by uniting the faculty, staff nd students from the iSchool, College of Information Science and Technology; the Department of Computer Science formerly housed within the College of Engineering; and the Department of Computing and Security Technology formerly housed in the Goodwin College of Professional Studies.

CCI also addresses a national demand for graduates in computing and data science. The College enrolled more than 2,200 students in its inaugural year. More than half of the students are undergraduates, with the number of undergraduates projected to grow by 15 percent annually to meet the persistent gap between computing degrees granted and the number of jobs in the field.
