The Sigma Sounds: Uncovering The Philly Groove

Tuesday, March 3, 2015

6:00 PM-9:00 PM

MAD Dragon Music Group will present the first of several events centered on Drexel’s Sigma Sound audio archives, a historic collection of approximately 6,200 master audiotapes documenting the recordings of one of America’s most influential studios. On Tuesday, March 3 at 6:00pm, a free-to-the-public panel discussion will center on the Philly Groove label, which is part of the Sigma Sound archive. Faith Newman, SVP of Creative & Business Development at Reservoir Media, the New York/Toronto-based music and media publishing house that holds the rights to some of Drexel’s Sigma Sound master tracks, will join the panel discussion along with former Sigma Sound employees, Drexel students and faculty including Music Industry Professor Toby Seay, and Philly Groove and Philly International session musician Bobby Eli. The Sigma Sounds: Uncovering The Philly Groove panel event will include a Q&A opportunity to speak with music experts on these home grown Philadelphia musical treasures. Refreshments will be served. The March 3 event will take place in the URBN Annex Screening Room (3401 Filbert St). Click here to learn more about Drexel’s archive, overseen by Professor Toby Seay. For more information about the panel event please contact Professor Marc Offenbach at mso47@drexel.edu.
