International Entreprerneurship Ecosystems

Tuesday, October 4, 2016

5:30 PM-7:30 PM

Starting up in another country is an option that some startups should consider. This could be for startups that are looking to access international markets, gain expertise on international operations or perhaps looking to access startup resources not available to you elsewhere.

This session will feature special guest speaker Cristobal Garcia from University Catolica in Santiago Chile.  Cristobal will discuss ecosystems with special attention to the startup scene in Chile that has been helped with the addition of programs such as JUMP Chile and Startup Chile.

Cristobal is a Professor of Practice in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at P.Universidad Catolica of Chile (PUC) and an External Affiliated Faculty at Columbia's Center on Organizational Innovation (COI). Cristobal has a double Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology and Philosophy from PUC, and a Master of Science at MIT. He is also the principal author and editor of a Lean Entrepreneurship Guide, Jump Chile THE BOOK, based on the nation-wide accelerator platform I found in 2012 in strategic alliance with a LATAM Financial Services company. On the international front, he coordinated the 2011-2013 PUC-STVP strategic partnership, has been collaborating with Steve Blank since 2011 and has been a Visiting Scholar at both MIT's Media Lab and MIT's Center for Collective Intelligence (http://www.ickn.org/team.html) several times.
