Working together with the PA Horticultural Society, Drexel is planning a “Green Resource Center” on currently vacant land in Mantua.  The goal is to expand opportunities for gardening and nutrition education among Mantua residents; increase the availability of locally-grown produce; function as a center for programming; and enhance job-training and employment opportunities for area residents, especially youth.  Drexel brings expertise in a number of fields that will help ensure the Center’s technological sophistication and ecological sustainability, particularly in the engineering required to assess the need for soil remediation and to develop plans for water use and renewable energy design and management.
