Back to Basics Home Repair

The Office of Equality and Diversity and The Women's Studies Program will host "Back-to-Basics Home Repair," a special home repair workshop for women, on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Intercultural Center, lower level (33rd and Chestnut Streets). This workshop is open to faculty and staff only. The class will cover the basics of home repair tools and materials. Participants will learn types and uses of common household tools as well as how to put together a toolbox and home repair kit.
Presenter Dave Decker of Handi-Women LLC, is retired from Navy civilian service where he developed and managed a major training initiative. He is an avid handy-man with 30 years of experience and a passion for learning and teaching. This Handi-Women class will help women to unlock their own potential world of home repair. A light dinner, courtesy of The Office of Equality and Diversity, will be served from 4:45 to 5:25 p.m. in the Intercultural Center's first floor gallery space. Participants should indicate in their RSVP if they will be attending dinner and if they need a vegetarian option.
