Undergraduate Advising

Committed to Supporting Our Students

Tara Liss-Marino, PhD, Director of Advising and Student Success, Drexel University College of Arts and Sciences

In the late 19th century, the unprecedented pace of technological change in America called desperately for new models of higher education. The university’s benefactor, A.J. Drexel, answered that call and created an institution where women and men of all backgrounds could learn what he called the “practical arts and sciences,” preparing people for enriching careers and leading them to more rewarding and impactful lives. Some of his ideals — preparing students for careers in new industries, making no restrictions on religion, race, gender, or socioeconomic status — have transcended time and are more important now than ever. Today, 130 years later, the College of Arts and Sciences is Drexel’s center for interdisciplinary thinking and innovation with a focus on knowledge-creation and applied research across the liberal arts, natural sciences, and social sciences.

In CoAS, our academic advisers are dedicated to the “Drexel difference” – offering individualized attention and steadfast support as undergraduate students navigate their academic journey. Whatever your educational path may be, your adviser serves as a liaison across Drexel University, clarifying policies and procedures and advocating for students as they adjust to college-level academics. In addition, our advisers will guide you through your coursework and ensure that you are connected to the correct offices across the university from your first year until graduation.
