Dr. Evan Forman is an Assistant Professor of Clinical and Health Psychology and Associate Director of the Student Counseling Center. As a faculty member in the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology, Dr. Forman teaches classes such as "Psychotherapy Techniques" and "Cognitive Psychology." As the Associate Director of the Student Counseling Center, he supervises clinical staff at the Center.
Dr. Forman received a B.A. with Distinction in All Subjects from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, with a major in psychology. He also completed a year of Honours Psychology at the University of St. Andrews in St. Andrews, Scotland. He earned his M.A. and Ph.D., with Distinction, in Clinical Psychology at the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York and completed his internship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in New York City. In addition, he completed post-doctoral fellowships/associateships at Cambridge Hospital in Boston, at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, and at the Beck Institute for Cognitive Therapy and Research in Bala Cynwyd, PA.
Dr. Forman's research interests include the evaluation of psychotherapy outcome, particularly the impact of therapy on self-worth and core beliefs about the self; subjective well-being; interpersonal, physical, and spiritual health; and occupational and family functioning.
He is especially interested in identifying mediating mechanisms of psychotherapy effect and integrating these understandings with findings related to mediating processes underlying the development of psychopathology in children and adults exposed to stress, change, and trauma. Work conducted by Dr. Forman has been published in peer-reviewed professional journals, and has been presented by him at national conferences.
