Jean C. Dorman

Jean started her career at the Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital (now Drexel University's Center City Hahnemann Campus) in February, 1982 in the Office of Student Services. In 1983, she was appointed as Director of Student Activities for the school and has been fortunate to have worked in the student life area ever since. In July, 2004, she became the Associate Dean for University Student Life.

Jean’s position provides her with opportunities to interact with the students of the University in various aspects. She serves as advisor to various student organizations and student governments on the center city campus, assisting them with their meetings, special events, elections and budgets. She also provides support and guidance as needed. “This is the most rewarding part of my job,” says Jean. “It is exciting to watch students develop and emerge as student leaders.”

Providing co-curricular, recreational, cultural and social activities and opportunities for involvement is another important aspect of her position. The Office of University Student Life works as a team to enhance the college experiences for our students. Jean is a notary public and provides free notary services for students needing documents certified for licensure, certification, etc.

“Students are the heart of a University and I see Student Life as one of the supporting, life-giving arteries. I have an open door policy and welcome students’ ideas, comments, concerns, suggestions or questions.”

On a personal note, Jean has three children and eight grandchildren. She enjoy arts and crafts, traveling, reading and spending time with her family.
