Joseph R. Casey is the Director for the Office of Multicultural Programs and Special Projects (OMPSP). He arrived at the University in 1986 as the Assistant Director of the Mental Health Associate Degree Program (MHADP). As an Assistant Professor, he developed and taught Clinical Case Conference I and II, Counseling the Culturally Different and Cultural Diversity and Human Services within the program. In 1987, he was instrumental in establishing the Academic Enrichment Services / ACT 101 and was appointed the Program Director. He served in this dual capacity until 1994 when the MHAD Program was terminated.
In March of 2000, Mr. Casey became the Director of the OMPSP. As Director, Mr. Casey is responsible for planning and implementing programming to promote greater understanding, respect, and appreciation among the diverse student populations at the Center City Campus. He serves as an advisor to several student organizations and acts as a resource and advocate for multicultural students. His office is available to students regarding their academic, social, and personal inquiries as well a their issues, concerns, and / or suggestions.
He also works closely with the Dean of Students on a variety of projects to enhance the quality of student life for our students. Mr. Casey completed his undergraduate degree in Human Services at Antioch University (Philadelphia, PA). While working in the field of Human Services for several years, he continued his education at Temple University where he received a Masters in Education with an emphasis on psycho-educational processes.
