Awards and Recognition

The Congressional Service Award
The Congressional Award is a public private partnership created by Congress to promote and recognize achievement, initiative, and service in America's youth. The Congressional Award provides a unique opportunity for young people to set and achieve personally challenging goals that build character and foster community service, personal development, and citizenship. Drexel University, through the Center for Civic Engagement, supports students in the Congressional Award program by acting as their advisers while they are in the program and enrolled at the university.

Drexel was recognized for its commitment to civic engagement and community service through the President’s Community Service Honor Roll. A collaborative effort led by the Center for Civic Engagement to catalog the overall institutional commitment to service and engagement led to our recognition in the General Community Service category for 2006-2007.

The University was awarded both the distinction for its commitment to curricular engagement as well as to outreach and partnership with the community. The Center for Civic Engagement led to the effort to collect and submit the information to the Carnegie Foundation. This elective classification began in 2006.
