Master of Health Science (M.H.S.) Degree in Rehabilitation Sciences 45.0 quarter credits
The M.H.S. degree isa professional degree in rehabilitation sciences open to therapists and other rehabilitation specialists seeking leadership roles in clinical practice as well as in the broader health care community. The focus of the MHS degree is on evidence-based practice in three concentrations including Hand and Upper Quarter Rehabilitation, Pediatrics, and Orthopedics. Graduates are expected to be critical consumers of new research, demonstrate leadership in implementation and evaluation of clinical or client services, and become competent clinical educators.
Requirements for the degree include successful completion of 45 credit
hours concluding with a case study or a clinical project.
Upon completion of the M.H.S. program, graduates will be prepared to:
Analyze the impact of injury or disease process on
musculoskeletal or neuromuscular function within a specific population
including orthopedics, pediatrics, and hand rehabilitation.
Improve their practice through clinical decision-making
that is consistent with concepts of health promotion, client-centered
care and current best evidence.
Facilitate the transfer of health care policy and research
findings into clinical practice.
Evaluate methods of service delivery and intervention
strategies and procedures at individual and program levels.
Serve effectively as clinical educators and consultants
to consumers and colleagues.
Engage in professional life-long learning and contribute
to the field of rehabilitation.
