Master of Health Science with Physician Assistant (PA) Certificate

The physician assistant (PA) is a primary health care provider who works in association with and under the supervision of a physician. The concept of the physician assistant has developed from the basic premise that many tasks performed by physicians can be carried out with equal competence by other specially trained health professionals.

Patient education, preventive intervention, complete or directed history and physical examinations, test evaluation, and presentations of cases in a problem-oriented fashion to the supervising physician are only some of the duties of the physician assistant. He or she also performs technical skills such as ECGs, venipuncture, suturing, casting and injections.

The goals of this program are to:

  • Educate qualified primary care physician assistants
  • Promote the physician assistant profession
  • Improve health care delivery in rural and urban medically under served areas

For more information visit the College of Nursing and Health Professions' Physician Assistant page.
