Master of Science in Publication Management
About the Program
Students enter the Publication Management program
from diverse undergraduate backgrounds, including liberal arts, business
administration, journalism, communications, technical writing, and information
studies. The program builds on the individual’s undergraduate content
base by providing knowledge about the key elements of the publishing process
needed by a publishing executive. The program also serves the needs of
individuals already employed in the printing or publishing industry who
are seeking to update or broaden their knowledge.
Students completing the program may find career opportunities in the management
of traditional publishing companies as well as in corporate communication
areas of a broad range of business and education. Entrepreneurial opportunities
provide another area of career development.
All courses in the program are
offered in the evening on a part-time or full-time basis. The curriculum
comprises courses in technical and science writing and editing, product
acquisition, design, production, and printing technology offered through
the College of Arts and Sciences and business management and marketing
courses offered through the LeBow College of Business.
