Criminal Justice Faculty

The criminal justice program draws on the expertise of faculty members from departments across the University, most of whom have Ph.D. degrees, teaching and research expertise. Most also have experience in some facet of criminal justice.

Shivanthi Anandan, Ph.D., (University of California, Los Angeles) Assistant Professor, Department of Bioscience and Biotechnology. Developments in DNA analysis.

Robert D'Ovidio, Ph.D., (Temple University) Assistant Professor. Computer crime, computer forensics, criminal justice technologies, surveillance and privacy, intellectual property theft and criminological theory.

Richard P. Freedman, J.D., L.L.M., (Temple University) Associate Professor and Head, Legal Studies Department. Alternative dispute and conflict resolution; corporate and consumer law.

Julia Hall, Ph.D., (University of Pennsylvania) Professor. Criminal justice and juvenile justice reform, including community based alternatives to incarceration, correctional education and programming, reentry and reintegration, restorative justice, and issues relating to special needs offenders, including the elderly, juveniles, the mentally ill, and life-sentenced offenders.

Kirk Heilbrun, Ph.D., (University of Texas) Professor and Head of the Department of Psychology. Violence risk assessment, treatment of mentally disordered offenders, forensic psychological assessment, and legal decision making.

Mark Manion, Ph.D., (Temple University) Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Director, Philosophy Program. Professional ethics; the philosophy of technology.

David Ridgway, (Saint Joseph's University) Auxiliary Professor, Department of Culture and Communication. Criminal investigatory work.
