Please describe your study/research interests and why.
I am focusing my degree on water resources. My primary research interest is hydroclimatology and water resource systems, specifically any implications a changing climate might have on the system performance. I enjoy looking at water resources from a broad lens. The hydroclimate we live in is dynamic and we can best prepare for future issues by planning ahead. I am currently working with Dr. Paul Block of the CAEE Department on a research project related to my interests.
Please describe your co-op experience. Include where you worked, a brief description of your duties, and what you learned.
I am fortunate to have had a diverse co-op experience at Drexel, which allowed me to identify what I would like to do after graduation. My first co-op was at React Environmental Professional Services Group, Inc. (REPSG Inc.), a small private company, working in environmental remediation. My second co-op was working within the Philadelphia Water Department’s Stormwater Plan Review section. While at PWD I was able to learn a lot about the new stormwater regulations in Philadelphia, and the technologies that are being used to reduce the stormwater loading on Philadelphia’s combined sewer system. My final co-op was at Aqua Pennsylvania, Inc. as a production engineer in water treatment.
Explain what you would like to do after graduation.
I would ideally like to live in another location, either nationally or globally, in a position where I can apply my skills gained over my time at Drexel. I want to travel and work so I think this is a happy medium.
Explain what you like about Drexel’s Engineering Program.
I really appreciate all of the opportunities Drexel Engineering has offered me. The co-op program has given me meaningful well-rounded work experience. The BS/MS program allowed me to push myself as a student and pursue my research interests.
