Error Codes

When registering for courses, you may run into one of the following errors. The descriptions will give you a good idea of where the issue lies. If you are unable to complete your schedule due to an error, you must contact your academic advisor immediately to ensure that you are able to enroll in the appropriate courses.
CO-REQUISITE
The 'co-requisite' error occurs when it is specified at either the section or catalog level of the course that another course must be taken the same term as the course displaying the error. This error signifies that you do not have the proper co-requisite scheduled for the respective term.To Resolve this Error
Ensure that you are registering for both the class at hand and its co-requisite concurrently. If you are uncertain as to what the co-requisite is, it is listed under status in the Registration error block. You may also see the complete listing of co-requisites in the course descriptions listed in the Term Master Schedule.
PREREQUISITE & TEST SCORE
The 'prerequisite & test score' error occurs when it is specified at either the section or catalog level of the course, that specific course or courses must have been completed prior to registering for the course displaying the error.To Resolve this Error
Ensure that you have completed all pre-requisites for the course. You may also see the complete listing of prerequisites in the course descriptions listed in the Term Master Schedule.
LINK ERROR
The 'link error' occurs when a course has multiple parts (ie. A Lecture, Lab, or Recitation) that must be taken in conjunction with one another. Although these parts have unique CRNs, they are one complete course when taken together. Only one part of the course, the Lecture if applicable, will be associated with a grade and credits. The Lab and/or Recitation that must be taken with it will have zero credits and will not receive a unique grade. Lectures have sections 'A, B, C, etc.' and Link Identifiers of 'L1, L2, L3, etc.' depending how many Lectures with unique times are being offered. Each number in the series 'L1, L2, L3, etc.' has a specific set of Recitation sections and/or Lab sections that can be taken with it. Recitation series are section numbers '001, 002, 003, ... 060'. and have Link Identifiers of 'R1, R2, R3, etc.'. Lab series are section numbers '061, 061, 063, etc.' and have Link Identifiers if 'B1, B2, B3, etc.'To Resolve this Error
Ensure that all parts of the course are registered. You can find the linked courses you must register on the course detail page in the Term Master Schedule in the 'Section Comments' box (e.g. - Also register for Lec A).
CLOSED SECTION
The 'closed section' error simply means that the section is full.To Resolve this Error
You must get the permission of the department offering the course to add any closed sections of a particular course. For a closed section override, see your academic advisor.
PERMISSION REQUIRED
The 'permission required' error errors occurs when a University Department requests that a 'Permission Required' be placed at the section level of a course.To Resolve this Error
You cannot add these sections unless you obtain the specific approval of the designated area (Department, College or otherwise). To add a permission required section, contact your academic advisor.
COLLEGE RESTRICTION
The 'college restriction' error occurs when it is specified at either the section or catalog level of the course that only students of a certain College can register for the course.To Resolve this Error
If you are in the correct college and have problems registering, you should contact your academic advisor.
MAJOR RESTRICTION
The 'major restriction' error occurs when it is specified at either the section or catalog level of the course that only students of a certain Major can register for the course. You will not be able to register for this course unless you are in the designated major. The department has placed a restriction only for select majors for this course.To Resolve this Error

CLASS RESTRICTION
The 'class restriction' error occurs when it is specified at either the section or catalog level of the course that only students of a certain classification (e.g. - Freshmen, Sophomore, Pre-Junior, etc.) can register for the course.To Resolve this Error
If you are in this classification and have problems registering, you should contact your academic advisor.
PROGRAM RESTRICTION
The 'program restriction' error occurs when it is specified at either the section or catalog level of the course that only students of a certain Program (e.g. - BS/MS) can register for the course.To Resolve this Error
If you are in this classification and have problems registering, you should contact your academic advisor.
LEVEL RESTRICTION
The 'level restriction' error occurs when it is specified at either the section or catalog level of the course that only students of a certain level (either Undergraduate or Graduate) can register for the course. You will not be able to register for this course if your level ( UG and GR) is not equal to the restriction that is set by the department.To Resolve this Error

TIME CONFLICT WITH ANOTHER CRN
The 'time conflict' error occurs when the course displaying the error has a time that conflicts or overlaps with a course for which you are already registered.To Resolve this Error
You must get approval from the instructor to schedule the conflict. You should contact your academic advisor to discuss this time conflict.
MAXIMUM HOURS EXCEEDED
The 'maximum hours exceeded' error occurs when Undergraduate students have registered for credits greater than 20 and for Graduate students when they have registered for credits greater than 12.To Resolve this Error
You must get approval from your academic advisor or program director.
