Publications

Here you'll find our publications on the service needs and outcomes of people on the autism spectrum. We report on a variety of indicators related to transition planning, education, employment and several other topics.

Our holistic approach allows us to look not only at how an individual topic affects the overall quality of life, but how these different aspects of life work together to produce more positive life outcomes.

  • Community- and facility-based employment of adults with ASD who used state DD services

Adults with ASD who use State Developmental Disability (DD) Services had low rates of community and facility-based paid employment. From the National Core Indicators Adult Consumer Survey 2014-15, 14% of adults with ASD had a paid job in the community in the two weeks prior to participating in the survey; 15% had a paid job in a facility-based setting; and 27% of adults with ASD had either type of paid employment, significantly lower than the 35% of all other adult DD service users. While paid employment is an ideal outcome, finding and keeping a job is hard  for many people with ASD.
