The College of Nursing and Health Professions is committed to research as a part of the academic enterprise. This commitment is evident in faculty research focused on clinical practice and its outcomes as well as in efforts to educate students to be intelligent consumers of research.
This research mission statement was adopted by the Research Committee of the College of Nursing and Health Professions in 2001. It has served as both a goal and a guide for building our research program. Faculty and students in CNHP are committed to advancing the knowledge that forms the basis for sound practice.
Our research efforts reflect the diversity of our program missions and faculty interests. Research is conducted in health centers, in the community, in schools and in laboratories. Some of the research takes advantage of the College’s longstanding relationship with the Eleventh Street Corridor community, focused around our award winning nurse managed health center, Eleventh Street Family Health Services. Other researchers work with staff and patients at Shriner’s Hospital, and with the Partnership Program of the Division of HIV/AIDS Medicine at Drexel. Some researchers are engaged in testing the effectiveness of intervention programs while others are doing research several steps removed from direct intervention.
