Civic Engagement

The Neighborhood and Beyond

In the photo: A nutrition class led by Drexel students and faculty is among the programs offered to residents of an underserved Philadelphia neighborhood by the nurse-managed Eleventh Street Family Health Services of Drexel University.

Fulfilling the University's commitment to public service, the Center for Civic Engagement collaborates with community nonprofit organizations, public and private schools, and local government agencies to provide more than 150 unique civic engagement opportunities every year.

The center focuses on providing experiences that leave every Drexel student believing that the ideals of social responsibility can be integrated into their careers. To help achieve this goal, all undergraduate students complete a first-year civic engagement project, and many continue to participate in civic engagement opportunities throughout their time at Drexel.

These high-quality community-based learning opportunities are open to all Drexel students, faculty, and staff, and the center works closely with faculty members to incorporate community-based experiential learning and research opportunities into the curriculum.
