Pandemic Emergency Preparedness Plan:

The purpose of the PANDEMIC EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PLAN is to provide a written guideline regarding how Drexel University, working with the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, Division of Disease Control will respond to a pandemic that could affect Drexel University.

 

Drexel University and the Philadelphia Department of Public Health, Division of Disease Control has developed an emergency preparedness plan that will foster a quick response to address the pandemic medical needs of the Drexel Community.

 

1.         Once information is received from the City of Philadelphia regarding the possibility of a pandemic threat, the Drexel Incident Commander and the Emergency Response Team will be responsible for monitoring reports and providing additional information as it is received.

 

2.         The Drexel Emergency Response Team will immediately convene to implement the Drexel University PANDEMIC EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PLAN.

 

3.         Students, faculty and staff will be instructed to Shelter-in-Place and monitor information released by the Drexel Emergency Response Team Information Officer.

4.         As the situation is monitored by the Drexel Emergency Response Team, specific directives may/will be given such as closure of the University

 

5.         Individuals will be instructed where to go to receive treatment, a Point of Dispensing, based on a geographical location.

6.         To reduce your risk during a pandemic individuals should:

  • Wash your hands frequently
  • Avoid touching your eyes, noise or mouth as much as possible
  • Keep alcohol based hand sanitizers in your purse, car and backpack for when soap and water are not available
  • Stay away from people who are sick
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing
  • Get regular exercise, enough rest and eat healthy balanced meals
