Civilian Medical Response Center (CIMERC)
The National Bioterrorism Civilian Medical Response Center
(CiMeRC) is a university-based, pre-planning organization
designated by Congress in 2000 to develop innovative
technologies for emergency medical response, including
biological mass casualty preparedness. CiMeRC strives to develop
tools that produce an effective integrated response to complex
medical emergencies through research and collaborative
relationships with universities, industry and government
agencies. Recognizing the important differences between rural
and urban response, CiMeRC partnered with the Center of
Excellence for Remote and Medically Under-Served Areas
(CERMUSA). The strategic location of CiMeRC at Drexel University
in Philadelphia, PA, and CERMUSA at Saint Francis University in
Loretto, PA provides immediate access to a diverse community of
first responders. With the support of these communities, CiMeRC
develops products that will assist the response community
before, after and during a complex medical emergency.
