Undergraduate Readmission and Reinstatement Policy

(LAST MODIFIED: 11/29/06)

The School of Education’s policies supplement and, in some cases, may be more restrictive than Drexel University policy.  The School of Education encourages all students to familiarize themselves with both School and University ( http://www.drexel.edu/provost/policies/ ) policies.

For students who seek Readmission (who have not registered for any course for more than one academic year):

Undergraduate students previously enrolled at Drexel who have not registered for any course for more than one academic year may apply directly for readmission to one of the School of Education’s undergraduate degree programs.  The right to grant or deny readmission to any program is at the discretion of authorized staff.  Minimum requirements for readmission are as follows:

*Any incomplete or unresolved grade will be considered an “F” unless evidence of the filing of a formal “Change of Grade” form or an approved “Drop/Withdraw” can be readily ascertained.

For students who seek Reinstatement (who have been academically dismissed):

Undergraduate students who have been dismissed from the University for poor scholarship have the right to appeal the decision.  Students may appeal by meeting the following requirements:

If an appeal is successful, the student will be required to develop a plan of study to ensure academic progress with his or her advisor.  Additionally, the student must sign an Authorization for Reinstatement from Academic Dismissal form before his or her reinstatement may be processed.

Any subsequent academic dismissal action for which the student has not met the agreed upon academic progress goals will result in final dismissal from the School of Education.

Students who have been academically dismissed and have not been invited to appeal the decision may appeal in writing by sending a letter to:

Ms. Regina Ruane

School of Education

Drexel University

3141 Chestnut Street, Korman 208

Philadelphia, PA  19104

Appeals will be considered at the earliest possible opportunity.  However, students will not be considered for reinstatement for the term in which they were dismissed from the School of Education and will miss at least one term of study.  The determinations to approve or deny reinstatement to the School of Education are final.
