and Master's Dual Degree Program
Education Accelerated Degree Programs The Drexel Bachelor's and Master's Dual Degree Program takes the concept of the dual degree program to a new level. For incoming freshmen interested in a career in education, Drexel University’s School of Education offers two distinct accelerated degree programs — the Honors BS/MS program and the BS/MS program. Because today’s educational environment requires high-level skills and certifications, all freshmen who wish to earn an educational degree at Drexel must enroll in one of these programs to simultaneously pursue their bachelor’s degree (in education or in any accredited undergraduate major) and one of five School of Education Master of Science degrees. Honors BS/MS Program This program is specifically designed for high-performing high school graduates. Students who qualify are simultaneously enrolled in the School of Education and the Pennoni Honors College and earn both their bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Education in just five years. Beginning in their freshman year, students are paired with a School of Education faculty member and immersed in undergraduate research. They select a School of Education Master of Science degree program in their sophomore year and begin taking graduate courses during their junior year while continuing to pursue their bachelor’s degree. BS/MS Program This program provides students interested in majoring in subjects other than education with the preparation and credentials to pursue an expanded variety of career options. For instance, a student wanting to pursue a career in institutional advancement, financial management, or institutional research for a college or university could major in Business Administration and earn an MS in Higher Education; a student interested in teaching high school biology could major in Biology and earn an MS in the Science of Instruction. Certification Curricula One of the strengths of our program is that students enroll in their content courses (science, mathematics, and liberal arts classes) with students in other majors throughout the University. This helps to ensure a mastery of content knowledge that enables them to mentor future students. Distinct curricula have been designed for each of the following areas of certification. Students are encouraged to incorporate coursework from a second certification area with the initial certification area of study.
Master of Science Coursework Students in both the Honors BS/MS program and the BS/MS program can choose one of the following master’s degree programs:
Each program is designed with the flexibility for students to pursue various concentrations or individually designed study. Students can also pursue a variety of postgraduate certifications, including School Principal, Instructional Technology Specialist, and Teaching English as a Second Language.
