17 January 2006 -- Joji Thompson
Joji Thompson, a Noyce Scholar, tutors at the Drexel Learning Center. To better meet his students' needs, he created a DVD that clearly explains each step in solving mathematical problems. The DVD covers a wide array of mathematics instruction, from working with fractions up to trigonometric functions.

22 February 2006 -- Tomas Hanna
Mr. Tomas Hanna, the School District of Philadelphia's Senior Vice President for Human Resources and Recruitment, discusses the Roll Out the Red Carpet Event and about teaching in Philadelphia. Mr. Hanna, who began his career as a per diem teacher in Philadelphia, is devoted to not only recruiting, but retaining, the best and the brightest teachers.

22 February 2006 -- Tomas Hanna's Welcome Address
The first Roll Out the Red Carpet Event, held 2 ½ years ago, had only 40 attendees. February's event packed a large ballroom with approximately 250 teaching students who were considering teaching in Philadelphia. Students from as far away as Lock Haven and Wilkes-Barre traveled to this day-long event that took students to observe classes in schools all over Philadelphia. Attendees were also treated to a tour of our historic city as well as a fine reception at the University Museum, where recruiting and benefits were discussed and individuals' questions were answered.

3 March 2006 -- Cynthia Paul
Cynthia Paul, a Noyce Professional, has recently received her certification in secondary mathematics. She is a recipient of the School of Education's iPod Research Grant (featured here), where she used an iPod to make her student teaching more effective. She also created a Math Literacy Center using her iPod. Among many topics covered in her interview, Cynthia discusses her decision to come to teaching after a career in the coporate world.

27 March 2006 -- Nicole Hackett
Nicole Hackett, a Noyce Professional, is the first Noyce Scholarship recipient to work in the School District of Philadelphia. Nicole teaches biology, anatomy and physiology at Edison High School. Here she discusses why she decided to become a teacher and what she has learned so far in just her first three months of teaching.
