Profile: Ahmed Abdel-Magid, Ph.D., is currently a Senior Research Fellow at Johnson & Johnson PRD. His main responsibilities include designing, planning, and executing organic syntheses for the large-scale production of pharmaceutically important compounds. His research interests include development of organic syntheses of different classes of molecules such as carbocyclic compounds, heterocyclic compounds, amino acids, and polypeptides. Dr. Abdel-Magid is a specialist in the development of synthesis methodologies such as reduction and stereoselective synthesis in organic chemistry. He has a special interest in reductive amination of aldehydes and ketones and chemical process research.
