How to Start a New Student Organization
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are several parameters that students must be mindful of when interested in starting a potential new undergraduate, joint or graduate student organization.
An essential prerequisite is to ensure that the potential new club does not currently exist – we may not have the exact name of the organization on campus, but may have groups which resemble the mission and purpose. Please review our online student organization directory found here: http://www.drexel.edu/oca/so/a-zDirectory.asp.
Each recognized student organization must have a unique mission. Individuals seeking to start an organization cannot replicate an existing group. The Office of Campus Activities can help you determine if an organization with the same mission already exists.
After determining that your potential new organization does not currently exist, please complete the New Student Organization Interest form found in CollegiateLink, our online student organization management system.
Log-in to DrexelOne and click the “Drexel” tab. Located in the bottom left of your screen, you will find the link to CollegiateLink. Click the link and be entered into the system. Next, click the “Organizations” tab on the header bar. Upon doing so, you will notice on the left side, under “Recommendations”, a button to register a new organization. This form is the first step in the process and will facilitate a meeting between you and staff from the Office of Campus Activities. Should you have any questions, you may contact OCA at askOCA@drexel.edu.
You must follow the steps in the recognition process listed on the Steps in Recognition Process page.
Recognition is a privilege given to student organizations that agree to comply with institutional policies and procedures.

GRADUATE Student Organizations:
Recognition information for proposed new graduate student organizations can be found on the Drexel University Graduate Student Association (GSA) website at: http://www.drexelgsa.org/recognition for the fall 2012-2013 academic year. For pre-existing graduate student groups, re-recognition is required every year. Groups will receive information about this process at the summer GSA meeting in August 2012.
