The Selection process will be held toward the end of the month of August, and Leadership Assistant (LA) Training will be held during September 2008.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Leadership Assistant (LA) is an experience Drexel student who is a para-professional member of the Campus Activities staff within the Division of Student Life. The Leadership Assistant’s supervisor is the Coordinator of Campus Activities. As a staff member of the Division of Student Life, the Leadership Assistant has the responsibility of implementing division wide programs and activities. The Leadership Assistants work as a team with the Office of Campus Activities to provide educational and leadership development for the Drexel University student body.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Currently and actively enrolled during terms of employment
- Maintain a 2.5 minimum cumulative GPA
- Ability to commit to 5 or more hours per week
- Mature, self-motivated, quick learner, able to work with minimum supervision at times
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills needed.
- Must be able to work with diverse populations
- No standing judicial sanction that extends through the dates of employment
Preferred
- Basic knowledge of campus
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Availability to work some evenings/nights
- Previously CEO certified
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support initiatives from the Office of Campus Activities that impact Student Life
- Assist with the CEO & CEO II Leadership Programs (i.e. scheduling, assist presenters, database management etc.)
- Support the planning, promotion, and execution the CEO Leadership Banquet
- Assist with the scheduling, and marketing of Leadership Weeks
- Design and promote monthly Star Leader Awards
- Assist in the creation, editing, and marketing of the leadership newsletter “Step Up”
- Support the planning, promotion, and execution of the Student Organization Leadership Symposium
- Help bring together students and organizations to discuss their leadership issues and experiences
- Provide workshops and guides to students and organizations on University guidelines, policies, and organizational development
- Coordinate and data entry of leadership evaluations
- Research leadership initiatives and resources
- Assist with the editing of the leadership website
- Other duties as assigned
COMPENSATION
- Students with Work-study funds for 2008/09 – are eligible to get paid with work-study dollars and work between 5-20 hours/week at an hourly rate of $7.15 - $7.50.
- Students without work-study funds for 2008/09 – are eligible to receive a stipend of $7.50 for up to 50 hours per Term
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Collectively, the Leadership Assistants will
- Support initiatives from the Office of Campus Activities that impact student life
- Help bring together students and organizations to talk about their leadership issues and experiences.
- Advise and consult with students and organizations on leadership and the effectiveness of their organization
- Provide workshops and guides to students and organizations on a variety of topics.
- Acknowledge and promote students who are exceptional leaders.
- Assist the Office of Campus Activities create leadership training materials and tip sheets
- Support and promote the CEO and CEO II Program’s leadership initiatives
- Promote leadership opportunities to the Drexel student body
- Assist with the maintenance of the leadership website and other marketing opportunities
- Coordinate Leadership evaluations and surveys
- Provide database management
- Research leadership initiatives and resources for the website and accessing electronically
- Organize special events such as ‘leadership ropes courses’
- Assist with large-scale events such as the Drexel Student Leadership Conference
- Other duties as assigned
