What does it mean to manage effectively?  What is leadership?  How can we manage and facilitate better teaming and partnerships in the workplace?  This workshop will define leadership qualities and discuss the differences between leadership and management in the corporate environment.  Participants will learn about delegation and partnering to form an effective team of problem solvers.  The importance of clear, concise and crisp communication in organizations will be emphasized throughout the seminar.

Dick Hayne, president of Urban Outfitters, will be on Drexel University's University City Main Campus on Tuesday, August 24, at 9 p.m. for a discussion and interview about his experiences in corporate leadership. Drexel University President John Fry and the LEAD Sacramento cohort will be watching and participating in this event live from Drexel University's Center for Graduate Studies in Sacramento.  Hayne founded retail establishment Urban Outfitters as the Free People's Store in 1970. Currently, Urban Outfitters has roughly 100 namesake stores, mainly in the U.S., but also in Canada and Europe, and sells casual clothes, accessories, gifts, housewares, and shoes. Hayne has been a member of the Drexel Board of Trustees since 1996.  The objective of this series is to have leaders in Philadelphia and Sacramento share their personal reflections with students - not about the definition of leadership , but what it requires from the individual.
