    Setting the Permissions on DUNX1

If you have just finished moving your web page files to your dunx1 account and you are unable to see your site on the Internet, then your permissions are probably not set correctly. Here are a few steps you can take to fix the permissions issue.

    • If you used Internet Explorer to ftp your files to dunx1.irt.drexel.edu:
      • Unfortunately, Internet Explorer does not have the ability to change permisions. The system will automatically change your permissions within 24 hours from when you placed the files on dunx1.irt.drexel.edu. However, you may follow the directions for WS_FTP or Standard FTP/SSH below to change the permissions yourself.
    • If you used WS_FTP to ftp your files to dunx1.irt.drexel.edu:
      1. Login to dunx1.irt.drexel.edu through WS_FTP.
      2. Locate the folder, public_html, in the right pane.
      3. Right-click with your mouse on the public_html folder.
      4. A menu appears, click on chmod(Unix)
      5. A window appears. Make sure the following are selected:
      6. Click OK
      7. You must also repeat these steps on the root-level home directory as well
      8. The permissions have now been set correctly!
    • If you used standard FTP or SSH to ftp your files to dunx1.irt.drexel.edu: (only for persons with shell access)
      1. Telnet or SSH to dunx1.irt.drexel.edu with your email login information
      2. At the prompt, type: webshare
      3. The permissions have now been set correctly!
