Windows XP Home Edition Network Security Instructions 1 of 5
If you decide to continue using XP Home, and in order to insure uninterrupted service in a safe
computing environment, please do the following:
It is imperative for security purposes that all local accounts (default or local admin) have passwords. By default, XP Home does not prompt users to do this you will need to create them yourself.
1)Go to Control Panel, click on User Accounts and then double click on your default user account.
It is recommended that you set up a password for the Administrator account as well. You will need to
restart your computer in Safe Mode (hold down the F8 key while it's rebooting), then repeat Step 1 (remember to
select the Administrator account).
