Tutorials: Norton: Removing Norton AntiVirus from Norton Internet Security

Removing Norton AntiVirus from Norton Internet Security

If your computer came with Norton Internet Security pre-installed, you need to remove the AntiVirus portion of this software before you can install Drexel’s version of Symantec AntiVirus 9.0.  If you try to install SAV 9.0 without removing the AntiVirus component of Norton Internet Security, you’ll see a message like this:

To remove the AntiVirus component of Norton Internet Security:

    1. Click Start, then Control Panel

    2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs

    3. Select Norton Internet Security and click Change

    4. When the Norton Internet Security Setup window appears, click Modify

    5. Uncheck the box next to "Install Norton AntiVirus"

    6. Click Next

    7. Click Next

    8. Click Finish and let Windows Restart
