Wired & Wireless Networks
The CTI~Networking group designs, engineers, operates and and maintains the wired and wireless local area
networks that connect people at each campus, the metropolitan area network that connects our three campuses,
and the uplinks that connect Drexel to the Internet, Internet2 and other private networks. To get more information
about networking on and off campus use our links below for Dragonfly Wireless or the VPN.
Through a unique agreement between Drexel and Earthlink, Drexel students, faculty and staff may use Feather by EarthLink wireless network throughout much of Philadelphia.
Request Network Service--University Owned Computers
Staff and faculty may request new network activation service, move or add service to existing configuration, such as new data ports or static IP address. Send complete description of need, location(s) and contact information to networking@drexel.edu.
Report Network or System Trouble
First, determine whether you can browse the web and/or if other people can use the service you are trying to access. If you can web browse or if others can use, say, email, the network/system is probably not down.
You can check the Status Report page to see if the problem has already been reported.
Next, call the IRT Help Desk at 215-895-2698. Most network/system problems can be handled via the Help Desk.
Lastly, you can call the CTI~Services at 215-895-6666 to report an automated trouble call. Your voice responses create a message to Networking/Operations staff.
Dragonfly Wireless
Getting started with DragonFly is easy, all you need is a computer with a built-in wireless adapter or add-on wireless card. To extend the Dragonfly network off campus as a supplemental resource, Feather by Earthlink is available to Drexel students, faculty and staff.
