    1. Open Apple Mail, click the "Mail" menu and then click "Preferences..."

    2. Click on "Accounts" in the toolbar and then click your Drexel account in the list.

    IMAP:    or POP:

    3. On the "Account Information" tab, look next to "Account Type" -

    If it says "IMAP", then the "Incoming Mail Server" should be "imap.mail.drexel.edu"


    If it says "POP", the nthe "Incoming Mail Server" should be "pop.mail.drexel.edu"


    4. Click on the "Server Settings" button

    Next to "Outgoing Mail Server", you should have "smtp.mail.drexel.edu" (if not, enter it).  Next to "Server port:", enter "465".  Check the box next to "Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)".  Also, click the drop-down next to "Authentication" and select "Password".  Finally, enter your Drexel username and password in the appropriate boxes.

    5. Click the "Advanced" tab and click the checkbox next to "Use SSL".  If you're using IMAP, the port number should change to 993...

    ...and if you're using POP, the port number should change to 995.

    6. Click the circle in the top left corner of the " Accounts" window to close it.  Apple Mail should now be able to communicate securely with IRT's mail servers.  If you still have problems, please contact the IRT help desk at (215)895-2698 or consult@drexel.edu for further assistance.
