    Email: Email Security Transition

In December 2005, IRT will upgrade significantly the security on the central Drexel mail servers. Secure and reliable email, anti-spam filtering, virus scanning and detection, not to mention user request for these features, are motivations for these changes.

The settings illustrated on our email configuration tutorials represent the only correct method of configuring an email client. Be aware that current mail configurations may already be correct. Also, if you have multiple mail folders within your Inbox or mail filters in place to help you organize your mail, you may retain those folders and filters. Please call the IRT HelpDesk with your questions and for assistance.

Users may fall into one of these two categories:

    • Current IMAP and POP mail users--the general email population--You need to verify your mail settings as illustrated below.
    • Users who access multiple mailboxes (departmental accounts, etc.); users with multiple mail profiles--You must verify your mail settings for each account you access.

Server information for Incoming and Outgoing are below. NOTE: EXCHANGE users are NOT affected by these changes.
