University Policy for Personal ID Number
- In our ongoing effort to provide enhanced personal security
for all Drexel University members, the University will no longer
use nor permit the use of a Social Security Number as the primary
identifier for a person in any University administrative system.
- Replacing the Social Security Number as the primary identifier is the personal University ID
number. Each person within the University's student, employee and financial databases has been
assigned a new personal University ID number.
- If you need to know or have forgotten your personal University
ID number, you may look it up by going to http://www.drexel.edu/irt/univid
or to http://accounts.drexel.edu.
You will be asked to authenticate your identity with your Drexel
computer account Login Userid and password.
- With the implementation of the new University ID number, it is now University policy that any
report, web page or data extract NOT contain Social Security Numbers unless required by law or
by prior approval of senior management of the University. This includes those specialized
reports that contain parts of the Social Security Number.
- By law, the University must collect and maintain Social Security Numbers for reporting and
communicating to various legitimate agencies. It is therefore imperative that each person's
Social Security Number is recorded accurately within the database.
