Vice President for Information Resources and Technology and Chief Information Officer (CIO)

John A. Bielec, the Vice President for Information Resources and Technology and CIO, is responsible for providing the leadership, vision and strategic initiatives necessary to create and implement an integrated University wide information technology strategy which both complements and reinforces individual College and Departmental initiatives. The Vice President directs the departments of Instructional Technology Support and Campus Outreach (core academic instructional and research computing support), Core Enterprise Systems (mission critical management information), Campus Computing Infrastructure (central server farm, voice, data, and video), and Clinical Practice IT Support. The Vice President works closely with diverse academic and administrative constituencies and advisory groups to build consensus and commitment concerning creating a risk adverse "state of the art" information technology vision and strategy. In this regard, the Vice President provides leadership for the Virtual Center for Applied Technology Integration as well as technical oversight of the Library.

The Vice President serves as member of the President's cabinet as well as on a number of key University committees. The Vice President's Office is supported by a Business Officer (responsible for all Office and Departmental business transactions) and an Assistant for New Technology and Innovation responsible for innovative technological initiatives "without portfolio".
