Core Enterprise Systems (CES)
Michael McCabe is Director of Core Enterprise Systems. This department is charged with the maintenance, enhancement,
integrity, and security of all centralized, mission critical business applications
required to manage the University's assets including finance, human resources, and
students. The Department must work closely with the owners of the various information
systems to provide required support as well as extend and enhance functionality.
The role of the Director is to provide supervision, management and technical expertise
in order to create an environment where transactions can be easily and efficiently
processed with resultant management and decision support information provided for
departmental and senior University officers. The Director is also responsible to ensure
that cross system integration processes are in place and that technical problems associated
with applications are quickly resolved.
Functionally organized "Groups" within the Department include:
- Financial Information System Group
The goal of this Group is to work closely with the owner of core Financial Information
applications (the Comptroller) to achieve the overall financial information goals of the
University. The Financial system includes the following applications:
- General Ledger
- Budget
- Accounts Payable
- Accounts Receivable including Student Accounts
- Purchasing
- Fixed Assets
- Investment Management
- Grant Management
- Research Accounting
- Cash Receipts
- Human Resources Information System Group
The goal of this group is to work with the owners of the core Human Resources Information
(including Payroll) applications (the
Director of Personnel and the
Comptroller) to achieve the overall
human resource information goals of the University. The Human Resource/Payroll system
includes the following areas:
- Employment (Applicant Tracking, Biographical Data, Affirmative Action and EEO reporting)
- Compensation (Training, Compensation Management, Performance Appraisal)
- Position Control
- Payroll (Tax Reporting, Payroll Processing, Time and Attendance, Wage Attachment)
- Employee Benefits (Benefit Administration and Leave Accrual)
- Human Resource Information Processing (OSHA, Health and Safety Tracking)
- Communications Management
- Student Information System Group
The goal of this group is to work closely with the owners of the core Student Information
applications (the Director of SRC and
the Dean of Enrollment Management) to achieve the overall goals of the University.

The goal of this group is to maintain the integrity and structure of the core
administrative databases, to design and implement new database structures associated with
new or extended functionality, to ensure the security of the administrative database structures,
to design and implement various data warehouses and to work closely with the other functional
groups to achieve the overall goals of the University.
