Saving Files to Your Dunx1 Account

Campus
If you have a Dunx1 or Academic Unix account then when you log
on to any computer in the Korman Center your account is automatically
connected. If you double click on the My Computer icon in the top
left of the screen you should see a drive labeled X. That is your
Dunx1 account.
You can access your Dunx1 account from here by double-clicking
on the X drive icon. You can then move files, delete files and create
folders to organize your files. If you have something saved on the
Desktop you can click and drag it on to your Dunx1 account.
Access to Dunx1 in Korman
In order to save to this account you need to do the following:
- Click on the Save or Save As option in whatever program you
are in
- Click on select the My Computer icon on the left of the window
- Select your Dunx1 account, the X drive
- Enter a filename and save your work
REMEMBER: You
only have 100 MB of storage on your Dunx1 account so it may become
necessary to archive items from your Dunx1 account on to your home
computer or some other storage device.

Activating Your Dunx1 Account
If you do not have a Dunx1 account then you need to activate it
and pick it up. In order to do that you need to do the following:
- Go to http://accounts.drexel.edu
- Log in with your Drexel user-id and password
- Click the Sign In button
- Click the Continue button
- Click on the button towards the bottom of the screen to activate
your Dunx1 account
- Follow the instructions to complete the account set up
- In order to access your Dunx1 account securely from off campus
be sure to set you shell access to C-shell or any other shell
you are familiar with
After you pick up the account you will need to log off the computer
and log back on in order for the mapping to occur on your computer.
From that point forward you should have access to your Dunx1 account
on any Korman Center computer.

Accessing Dunx1 Off Campus
If you would like to access your Dunx1 account from home then you
can use the SSH software provided through the Drexel software site
at http://software.drexel.edu.
Once you have downloaded and installed the software you can do the
following to connect to your Dunx1 account.
- Open up the SSH Secure File Transfer program
- Click on the Quick Connect button or press the Space Bar
- Next to Host Name: enter dunx1.irt.drexel.edu
- Next to User Name: enter your Drexel user-id
- The Port Number: should be automatically set to 22
- The Authentication Method: should be set to Keyboard Interactive
- Click on the Connect button
- If you are asked to add the Host key to the keychain you can
click Yes if you do not want to see this message again or No if
you do
- You will then see a message from the Dunx1 server
- Click the Ok button
- Enter your Dunx1 password
- Click the OK button
- Click the Ok button
Congratulations! You have just connected to your Dunx1 account
remotely. You will see all of your local files on your computer
on the left hand side and all of your remote files on your Dunx1
account on the right hand side. If you want to upload a file to
your Dunx1 account you can just click and drag it into the right
hand side. You will then see the file upload progress at the bottom
of the window. If you need to download a file from your Dunx1 account
you can click and drag it onto your Desktop or to a location in
the left side of the window. This time you will see the download
progress at the bottom of the screen.
