Assistant for New Technology & Innovation
Kenneth S. Blackney
is the Assistant to the Vice President for New Technology and Innovation.
Mr. Blackney scans the computing environment for technologies applicable to
Drexel and leads initiatives to integrate appropriate technologies into the
existing computing and curricular framework at Drexel.
Mr. Blackney is currently leading a project to design and implement
informational and marketing kiosks is key University buildings. These kiosks
will provide basic and site-specific information to students, faculty, staff
and the public, give students access to course schedules and grades, and give
presentations for University-led and self-paced tours of the Drexel campus.
His recent projects include the Course Management Service, a web-based
system to facilitate communications and collaboration among faculty and student;
Web*Finance, an application to make administrative financial information
available to authorized users over the World Wide Web; and the Computer
Accounts Management Service, the system that provides users with instant
computer account creation and account management functions and relives computing
staff of the need to handle mundane processes.
Currently, Mr. Blackney also serves as the Interim Director of the
Communications and Computing Infrastructure department.
