Q: Why is it important for faculty and professional staff to make an annual commitment? A: Drexel is one of the nation’s top research universities, and we also have one of the highest rates of employee giving for any American university our size or larger. That exceptional commitment and outstanding rate of participation makes a big impression on foundations and other funders, and strengthens our case for support. Giving to Drexel supports our many programs that benefit our students, our faculty, our neighbors, our city and our world.
A: There are a number of convenient options for making a gift.
Q: How long will the campaign run? A: The campaign runs from April 15, 2013 to June 30, 2013. However, gifts made by faculty or professional staff to Drexel University anytime during the current fiscal year (July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013) will count toward the campaign.
Q: Can I designate my gift to a specific area of the University? A: Yes. Unrestricted annual dollars are the most flexible, as the funds can be allocated by Drexel to where they will do the most good. Gifts may also be designated to an area of your interest, such as
Q: Will any portion of my gift go toward administrative costs? A: No. One hundred percent of your gift goes directly to support the students and programs you designate.
Q: Is there recognition of my participation? A: Yes. Faculty and professional staff who give to the campaign will receive the annual collectible Why I Give pin. Donors are also eligible to win one of two iPads in the grand prize drawing. They can opt-out of either incentive. This summer, we will be hosting an ice cream, frozen yogurt and fresh fruit social in the Main Building as a thank you to our Why I Give participants.
Q: Does the size of my gift matter? A: No gift is too small. Participation is most important. One option for giving, the automatic payroll deduction, is a great way to spread out the payment of your pledge. A small amount deducted from each paycheck can make a big impact. Complete the form in your campaign packet or online at www.drexel.edu/WHYIGIVE for a convenient and easy way to support the Why I Give campaign.
