American College of Sports Medicine and American Heart Association Recommendations for Physical Activity

Adults should be active at least 2 ½ hours a week at moderate-intensity, or 1 hour 15 minutes of vigorous activity per week, or an equivalent combination of the two. Muscle strengthening activity that involves all major muscle groups on 2 or more days per week is also recommended.

For more extensive and additional health benefits, adults should increase their physical activity to 5 hours of moderate-intensity activity per week, or 2 ½ hours of vigorous activity per week, or an equivalent combination of the two.

Physical Wellness

Physical wellness is an important part of a healthy, active lifestyle. A Healthier U encourages Drexel students to take advantage of our comprehensive medical, educational and recreational services and resources designed to improve overall health, fitness, and nutrition.

Drexel Student Health Center

The Drexel Student Health Center offers comprehensive and general medical care to students. The center, which is staffed with faculty physicians from the Drexel University College of Medicine, ensures that patients receive a level of care reflective of the quality the Drexel name has come to represent.

Courses, Classes & Lessons

Drexel’s Recreational Athletics office offers a variety of fitness and safety instructional programs and classes to help students maintain a healthy lifestyle, including health and wellness programs, aquatics program and certifications, and climbing wall programs.

Lunch & Learn Discussions

The Recreational Athletics program offers a nutrition seminar series and nutritional consultations to Drexel students during each term. Topics may include stress management, healthy snacking, and nutrition myths.

Drexel Recreation Center

The Drexel Recreation Center is the heart of recreation, wellness and relaxation at Drexel. The 240,00 sq. ft. recreational complex is a place for students to have fun, relieve stress and feel good through exercise and fitness.
